Malte Spohr
square - April 29 until June 29, 2006

Malte Spohr photographs the nature. He alters the photographs digitally. Then the drawing as a process of an artistic putting into practice of reality sets in. With an extremely soft pencil he draws lines across deckle-edged paper. Line by line he gropes his way forward from the upper edge down to one of the bottom line in this manner. Highest concentration in fact meditative force doesn’t allow errors, no unconscious derailment of the straight line.

Malte Spohr was born at Hamburg in 1958. He lives and works at Berlin. Shown in numerous national and international exhibitions his work is represented in public and private collections. His first solo exhibition at Cologne is dedicated to a group of drawings made in 2004 till 2006, all in the same format: 42cm x 42cm.
