Malte Spohr
drawings - February 25 until March 24, 2012

Malte Spohr has been drawn horizontal lines for years, with pencil, colored pencil, silver point and / or chalk. His drawings make think of the photographs Malte Spohr uses similar to a scatch.

The artists third solo show at Galerie Werner Klein gives for the first time a summery of the entire oeuvre of one year including ten drawings of different sizes (21 x 21cm to 21 x 119cm). The rezeption of this ensemble enables the viewer to observe the entire creative process of the artist during this period.

Malte Spohr: The various manifestations of light and its energy fascinate me, trigger something that is difficult to grasp or describe. Light and the energy of light have a strong impact on me and provide the basis for my drawings.

Spohr was born in 1958 in Hamburg. He lives and works in Berlin.
His works took part in major exhibitions dedicated to drawing in German museums. The exhibition BERLIN ZEICHNET at the City Hall in Kiel is currently on view as well as LINE, LINE LINEA in Potosi, Mexico, an exhibition curated by Volker Adolphs (Kunstmuseum Bonn) on behalf of the IFA Stuttgart. The show is touring around the world over the next ten years.

A catalogue including a text of Dr. Andreas Schalhorn
(Curator of Contemporary Art at the Staatliche Museen) and images of e.S.I A-E - e.S.III A-E is available.
