"Psycho-Mapping Europe" - June 16 until July 14, 2012
"Psycho-Mapping Europe" is the fourth solo show of the artist in Gallery Werner Klein.
The exhibition focuses on a group of works on paper, called: Psycho-Mapping Europe.
20 years ago Jan Svenungsson gave himself the precept for three workgroups: the chimney-sculptures, the test-paintings and the series of drawings that the „Psycho-Mappings Europe“ belonging to.
In this exhibition two sets of works are shown: "Psycho-Mapping Europe" from 1998 and „Psycho-Mapping Europe version 2.0 - edition“ from 2010, produced due to the considerable enlargement of membership in the European Union. Also for the first time a woodcut printed 2012 by Niels Borch Jenssen in Copenhagen (Denmark) and a drawing based on this work will be presented.
Jan Svenungsson was born in Lund (Sweden) 1961. He lives and works at Berlin. Since autumn 2011 he is teaching as Professor at University of Applied Arts, Vienna (Austria).
A catalogue will be published for this exhibition that contains a comprehensive text from Jan Svenungsson with thoughts on the concept of the Psycho-Mapping works: „Controlled Production of virtuell geo-political realities through failure.“
