Frank Gerritz
some early drawings - October 27 until December 01, 2012
Frank Gerritz is a sculptor, but one who mainly draws, said Hubertus Gaßner on the occasion of the awarding of the Edwin-Scharff_Prize, which the Hanseatic City honored the artist in 2011. Line on line, mark over mark, he draws with pencil, Faber Castell 9B, on paper. The arrangement of the deep-black square or rectangular areas in the space of the paper was initially derived from the cast-iron block formation he had been sculpting up until the beginning of the 1990s.
SOME EARLY DRAWINGS is the second solo show of Frank Gerritz in Gallery Klein, Cologne. The exhibition focuses on a group of darwings, made by the artist 1989 – 1991 and preserved in his studio over the years.
Frank Gerritz was born in Hamburg (Germany) 1964, where he lives and works. His works are part of considerable museum as well as private collections.
