Christiane Löhr
Paperworks and Objects - May 14 until June 11, 2011

We are proud to present our second exhibition with works of Christiane Löhr focused on her works on paper.
She is deviding the space of mostly smallformat papers, with pencil, oil pastell or ink. Especially for this show she installed a large scale intervention in the exhibition space. A column that is aproxymately meters high, made from horse hair connecting the galleries ceiling and floor.

I feel a proximity to minimalism. I have the sense that my work process itself is strict. Each work has its own logic and follows a vision of clear gesture and form emerging from within myself... With drawings there is always an attempt to get a grip on the space of the page with just a few lines. (Christiane Löhr 2009)

Christiane Löhr (born 1965) lives and works in Cologne, Germany and Parto, Italy. She is a master student of Jannis Kounellis. She has received numerous grants and prizes such as the Warhol Grant, Headlands Center for the Arts, San Francisco and Daniel Kahnweiler Stiftung, Rockenhausen Grant. Her works where shown in national and international private and public collections and institutions such as Kunstmuseum Bonn, Kunsthalle Bern, Collectione and Villa Panza, Varese and Fattoria di Celle (Collectione Gori), MART, Rovereto and Musée d´Art Moderne de Saint-Etienne Métropole. In 2001 her works were part of the show Plateau of Humankind curated by Harald Szeeman for 39th. Biennale of Venice.
