Heinrich Küpper
The little Things - drawings - June 25 until July 23, 2011
"The water running behind my house, the tree bark or a rock, they all live on different
shimmering colors, tumultous lines and fantastic shapes. The little things imply a very large world. The microcosm reported of the macrocosm. "Heinrich Küpper
In September 2009, Heinrich Küpper celebrated his 90th Birthday, same year in December he died. The exhibitions of his drawings and artists books in the museum library in the Museum Ludwig in Cologne, the Museum Kolumba in Cologne, the Leopold Hoesch Museum in Düren and the Museum Burg Wissem in Troisdorf are vivid memories.
The exhibition of pencil drawings by Heinrich Küpper at Galerie Werner Klein,
one can not describe without their genesis. After the death of the artist a note was found, quoted in an unfamiliar handwriting: Galerie Werner Klein, Cologne Volksgartenstr.
An unusual discovery in the estate of an artist, who was livelong skeptical to the art market. Following an initial screening of some works, the cooperation was a done deal.
Heinrich Küpper has drawn tirelessly up to his death, especially after his retirement in the early 80s. The exhibition shows selected pencil drawings filled with an endless number of very small characters and lines.
From 1950 to 1981 Heinrich Küpper taught techniques of graphic design at the Werkschulen Cologne and the Department of Art and Design University of Applied Sciences in Cologne.
