The Variety of Line II - April 29 until May 23, 2020
Karoline Bröckel, Linda Karshan, Hanns Schimansky, Heinrich Küpper, Thomas Müller, Maja Majer-Wallat
For your and our protection we waive the cooperation at an opening. However, we would like to enable you to visit the gallery individually by prior appointment.
The exhibition The Variety of Line II shows new drawings by Hanns Schimansky in combination with works by Karoline Bröckel, Linda Karshan, Heinrich Küpper, Maja Majer-Wallat and Thomas Müller.
Movement connects the exhibited works in all their diversity.
Hanns Schimansky follows the drawing pen across the most diverse sheets. Karoline Bröckel draws the sequences of movement surrounding her, Linda Karshan sets lines in the rhythm of her own heartbeat on the leaf she keeps turning, and Maja Majer-Wallat connects parts of plants seemingly floating in the air to create constantly changing spatial drawings. Heinrich Küpper was fascinated by the nature surrounding him in its shimmering and buzzing, his filigree drawings bear witness to this, and Thomas Müller patiently repeats the same lines again and again in some of his works, such as the ballpoint pen drawings.
All works bear witness to movement and freedom of movement is a precious commodity that cannot be taken for granted in these times of restriction.
Due to the extensive restrictions on contacts, we have postponed the solo exhibition with Hanns Schimansky, which was planned for mid-April, until November of this year.
